I agree with Dan Clark’s article in Inbound Logistics, which contends there is a huge benefit to managing inbound freight more effectively. I would add that major parts of the cost are typically buried within the cost of components and finished goods. This is especially true for international supply chains.
It takes research and perseverance to flush out all the logistics costs, which are often inflated. Once all costs are identified, they can be grouped, analyzed, negotiated and measured.
